THE INTERVIEW

Tell me a short background about what you were doing before photography. What made you make the leap?

“Before photography, I worked in community-based roles, including teaching through AmeriCorps and later project management. Those experiences taught me a lot about people, communication, and storytelling, which naturally carried over when I made the leap into photography.

I’ve been photographing professionally for over 10 years now, though I’ve been drawn to it creatively much longer. What pushed me to take it seriously as a career was realizing how much fulfillment I got from capturing real moments and connections — not just creating images, but making them meaningful for people. My favorite types of photography are portraits and storytelling-focused shoots, whether that’s weddings, engagements, or creative series like my After Dark and Walls projects. ”

I enjoy showing both people and places in a way that feels authentic and fresh.

What's your primary drone photography specialty or niche?

“My drone work leans toward nature and landscapes, as well as events and creative projects. I discovered this niche because I was already hiking and exploring places around Chattanooga, and the drone gave me a way to capture the scale and perspective that you just can’t get from the ground. Over time, I’ve also been asked to bring that same eye into events and weddings, where drone footage adds cinematic storytelling to the final gallery.”

What types of projects do you typically work on, and what's your pricing structure like usually?

“I typically work on a mix of portrait sessions, weddings, and creative projects for individuals, couples, or small businesses. On the drone side, I take on landscape shoots, event coverage, and creative storytelling work. Pricing is usually project-based rather than strictly hourly, since every session is different.

For example, weddings are bundled into packages, while portraits or drone sessions might be priced per project with options for add-ons depending on scope.”

Are there any kinds of projects you’re wanting to do more of? Specific industries, types of shoots, dream projects, etc?

“I’d love to expand into more creative collaborations and commercial storytelling — projects where drone footage helps bring a sense of scale and place. For example, I’d love to work more with travel, tourism boards, or outdoor brands, where there’s a focus on highlighting landscapes and experiences. I’m also open to more event and wedding drone work, since it’s such a unique way to elevate those memories. A dream project would be combining my fine art approach with drone photography to create a series that showcases both the natural and urban character of a place.”
